In industries, we make products, processes, and services but
sometimes they cannot meet the requirements of the final product due to any
non-availability of the products, service, or anything then that can be
referred to as deviation. If you are working in an organization then you should
have the acumen of the deviation concept in detail. So let's learn about
deviation and the types of deviation.
#What is the deviation?
In industries, the
deviation is defined as the non-fulfillment of the requirements which can
affect the quality of the product. In this, the product does not meet the
requirements of customers. The deviation is applicable to any industry such as
manufacturing, production, or any service industry. In most of the industries,
while working on the activities of the processes, we face the deviation.
To understand better, we will take an example of the
manufacturing industry, if they had given some parameters and features to the
product in any organization and if it does not meet the parameter then it can
be called a deviation. If you had not used any process that you wanted to use
in the production, then it is also called a deviation.
The ISO certified organizations decrease the chances of
deviation by giving the best guidelines for the processes. Hence one
organization should apply for ISO Certification in India to decrease the
chances of deviation.
#What are the types of deviation?
In the industries, there are four types of deviation can
that are considered and that is Man, Machine, Material, and Method. But there
are many types of deviation and that is Location, Supplier, Quality, Quantity,
and Delivery Time deviation.
For a better understanding of Man deviation, we will take an
example for it. If we had any manufacturing process in our organization and we
had defined the skill of the man in the levels as one, two, three, and four. We
need a man with skill three to work on a particular process but we hire a man
with a level of skill two due to availability issues. Then it is called Man
Deviation.
The machine deviation can happen if you use any conventional
machine instead of the preferred machine that is used to produce the output.
Hence if you use a different machine that is not approved that leads to machine
deviation.
Conclusion:-
The deviation occurs due to the non-availability of the
particular thing which is most essential in that process whether it can be a
Man, Machine, Method, location, and many more. To avoid the chances of
deviation, you can apply for ISO Certification and decrease the
chances of it.
