Odisha’s Kalahandi received an ISO Certification, which is said to be a
prestigious achievement. Vedanta group’s Nanda Ghar, which is a flagship
corporate social responsibility project announced about this.
For
what purpose the Nand Ghars have been certified?
The Ghars of Nand has
been certified with ISO 9001: 2015 in terms of providing a full gamut of help
and services which includes service of quality in early age education. Also,
the improvement of mother and child healthcare by improving the nutrition of
their foods and outcomes and also making women skill full of sustainable
livelihood.
The Nand Ghars which
have been recognized are situated at, Kansari, Basantapada and Kendubardi
villages in Lanjigarh block. The ISO certification is issued for the 3 years'
time period.
What
were the views of various authorities on this?
According to a statement
tweeted by Dr. Parag Harshad Gavali, who is Kalahandi’s district, 3 of Nand
Ghars( 5 Anganwadi Centres) situated in Kalahandi district received ISO
Certification. The transformation process already commenced. Thus planning on
having 100% ISO Certification. And, the credits go to Vedanta, W, and CD,
Block, Nand Ghar team as well as KPMG.
Vedanta’s efforts were
applauded and acknowledged by Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, who is also the Former
Director General & CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, and he
is also recognized as the father of CSR in India, popularly. As per his view,
the children of rural areas as well as women of India have been benefited
because of Nand Ghar, all because of a dedicated process that has been
transformative as well.
Likewise, Ritu Jhingon,
who is the CEO of Nand Ghar presented his view that they are proud of working
as a team and achieving ISO certification for Nand Ghars as well as Anganwadis,
the occasion being first both for Vedanta and Odisha State. He further added
that they would look forward to reaching many milestones for the Nand Ghar
project and contribute to the inclusive development of their communities.
What
are the aims of the project?
The project has
set the aim of making sure that rural areas of India don’t get left in the
progress that India has been marching on. So, Vedanta along with the Ministry
of women and child development (MoWCD) have undertaken the measure, therefore.
The Prime Minister’s
national vision of eradication of malnutrition of children, providing them with
education, healthcare services, and also empowering women by developing their
skills to better support their livelihood, have been taken seriously by the
project and they are committed to it.
What
actions did Nand Ghars take in response to the COVID pandemic?
Nand Ghars had recently
enrolled various e-learning modules for home-schooling in villages of Uttar
Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Odisha, as a response to the COVID pandemic.
As a quarantine center
for community women in the village, The Basantapada Nand Ghar had been used.
In order to create a
better future for women as well as children, Vedanta’s 1400 as well as Nand Ghars
across 7 states, have been working.
The program has aimed of
reaching out to the lives of 40 lakhs people, which will directly have an
impact upon 2 lakhs children and 1,80,000 women, annually.
