Currently, the lockdown has been stopped, and the market is
opened in every city, even in the red zone areas, but the coronavirus is
spreading, and the patients are increasing day by day. As the markets are open,
we go and buy food products and other required things. While buying the food,
we should follow social distancing and try to protect ourselves from the
coronavirus as many people in the market come to buy the food products.
So in
this blog, we will discuss the suggestions given by Food Safety and Standards
Authority of India regarding the food products that are sold in the market.
Things you should do after buying food products from the
market
1. Wash your hands with soap and water before handling food
products:
The food can be contaminated if you touch the food with your
hands without washing. Or you should apply an alcohol-based sanitizer on your
hands before handling the food. Keep the one-meter distance between you and
every person that had come to the market and even with the shopkeeper. You should
make sure that the shopkeeper is sanitizing his hands and the food products
regularly.
2. Wash your fruits and vegetables before eating:-
The surface of the food may contain a virus or germs harmful
to the human being, so you should wash them properly before eating them.
Usually, we eat fruits directly. Hence we should also wash them properly.
According to the statistics, one in ten people among the population around the
world falls ill due to the consumption of contaminated food, and 4,20,000 people
die every year.
3. Refrigerate all the perishable foods:-
The perishable foods must be kept in a refrigerator below 5
C to avoid contamination. The perishable food may get contaminated at room
temperature; hence they should be kept in a fridge as soon as possible.
4. Cook the food above 70 C
The non-vegetarian foods, especially meat, poultry eggs, and
seafood must be cooked above 70 C as they infect us if we eat them raw. The
World Health Organization has also suggested that non-vegetarian food be consumed
by preparing them well as the viruses and germs die when the temperature
increases above 70 C.
Conclusion:-
The infection of COVID-19 is increasing, and we should stop
the epidemic by practicing good things as they protect us from the virus. Hence
the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India suggested that people
have some excellent ways to protect them from the virus. Following these steps,
one can avoid the infection.
