All restaurants and food business operators will have to
mention the FSSAI license or registration number on cash receipts or purchase
invoices from October 1, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India
(FSSAI) said on Thursday. Any credible regulatory framework depends on the
robust customer complaints system," the food safety regulator said, adding
that in the event of any irregularities, a customer can easily file a grievance against the worker
using the FSSAI number.
The Food Safety Regulatory Commission issued a directive on
Thursday stating that “every food business operator requires an FSSAI license
or registration before starting a food business visible to customers. It said
the move would help customers who can file an online complaint against a
particular food business using the FSSAI number because the complaint has not
been resolved due to lack of specific information.

Declaring the
FSSAI number will also improve complete awareness, the regulator said, adding
that if it is not declared, it will indicate compliance or registration
/ licensing by the food business. Currently, FSSAI numbers are mandatory on the
packaged food label, but there are problems with restaurants, restaurants,
caterers, and even retail stores.

food, where the manufacturer’s FSSAI number is printed on the pack; there is a
lack of tractors and trail mechanisms in which the package road from a producer
to a customer can be identified.
Invoice helps to establish this trial noting the FSSAI
number; the regulator said it would help improve food translatability.
The FSSAI order states that the licensing and FSSAI Registration
authorities have ordered the policy to be widely disseminated and that its
implementation will take effect on October 2, 2021. Referring the FSSAI number will also progress overall
awareness, the regulator said, adding that if it is not declared, it
will indicate compliance with the food business compliance or registration /
license.
