History of Six Sigma
The Six Sigma principle was established by Motorola to overcome the challenges that were posed by the Japanese in the 1980s. Six Sigma was introduced by Bill Smith while he was working in the Motorola company in the 1980s. There was a lot of quality issues in the company and Motorola was facing many challenges in delivering quality products to the Japanese companies. So to overcome these challenges and to produce quality products, Bill Smith was working on the Six Sigma Principle and introduced them to the company.
A long time ago, before the introduction of Six Sigma, the rejection of the products was measured in percentage but in Six Sigma the rejection is measured as Parts Per Million(PPM) and it was the big change in the quality measurement of the products at that time.
Most of the Indian and American companies adopted the Six Sigma Principle to improve the Quality Management System of their organization.
What do we do in the Six Sigma Principle?
We mostly focus on the variation reduction in the Six Sigma Principle. As we all know we cannot eliminate the variations but we can minimize it. So if we want to eliminate or reduce the variations and iperidigi defects then we had to first measure the defects. After the measurement of the defects, we will try to minimize the defects and then ideally try to eliminate it. After the measurement of the defects we get statistical data and thus we can focus on the data and hence if we focus on the elimination by using the specified data then we can increase the improvement of the Quality Management System.
